I am no longer a lecturer in Singapore's Nanyang Polytechnic. On Dec/2007 I accepted a position as a research scientist / software developer at University of Louisiana at Lafayette where I'll be doing research and programming on virtual reality (woohoo!).

While I'll keep working on some personal Second Life projects, it is no longer my main development platform.

This blog will not be updated, and will only be kept for archival purposes.

It's me, Justin. This is the last post for my FYP as it's the last week.

Turn It Off

The Turn It Off game has been coded and is working now. There's a fastest time taken chart for view as well. Some texturings have been done by Fadong and the rest may come in very soon.

Jet-Ski

The texture for the Jet-Ski has been done by Kenny and added into the game already. It's more or less completed.

Hello, im kenny. The purpose of this image is just to make this post longer and hence, look like more work was done durin the previous week. look at my matching prinnys. for the whole week, i basically did the robots and their instrument for the game "jazz on the beach" This is a drum set. (the background is juz to hide the flaws.) i wanted to separate the the robots from their instruments to show each element clearly, but got lazy when i took e snapshot for the drumset.

Week 10 Progress...

Thanks to fadong's help, finally found the masking technique ans is successfully applied on my avatar. May be used in some of the avatars available for visitors to purchase/acquire.

This is a water orb that will be placed right below the Artificial Sun. It serve no purpose at all, juz for decor. the water is animated.

This is the "gem". Players have to get this in "jewels on the sea" to gain points in the game. It "glitters".

This is a sprinkler, which obviously is a failed product. will post here anyways lol.

Wine bottles. these are for H2O zone. haven tot of the names yet so the tags are empty.

This is the robot player for the game "jazz on the beach". Their purpose is to give the player visual feedback if the player successfully hits a target at the correct timing by player their instruments.

End of the week is here and I have been working on Jewels of the Sea. I intend to spend the next week finishing it up and doing Jazz on the Beach. I set myself a deadline to complete it before the end of next week. Since we intend to use the following week to clean up everything and prepare for the final presentation. We haven't been able to access the island that was supposed to be assigned to us. I'm kind of worried...

Other than doing modelling and texturing for the Orange Playground, i also got research on how to mask out the default avatar body. If you pay attention to the "without mask" avatar, you will see the default avatar protruding out. The "correct" avatar uses the masking technique and the protruding avatar parts are hidden. (the avatar on the right is modelled by me but the one on the left is not. Its by 8KO Oh. to get landmark for the shop, IM me.)

Whoopie! It is the near end of the week and time for my update. Nothing much has been done so far other than to correct a couple of issues for the Jewels of the Sea mini-game. A couple of stuff to work on since the game isn't completed yet. I have been spending a lot of time coding and debugging. No picture update though.

The Jet-Ski game is more or less completed as here.

Jet-Ski

Start point/rez box of the Jet-Ski for the game. Players can choose whether they want to start the game by rezzing out the vehicle, or taking a notecard containing the instructions of the game.

The game course, which is simple for now. The final game course might change depending on the Orange Playground land.

At the last checkpoint which is also the goal-line, a fastest lap chart is available for view. This is the equivalent of a high-score chart.

What's left is probably the addition of graphics from the DMD guys. The wooden blocks will actually become invisible in the end.

As time progresses and we had to go through our second formal presentation, my effort was not considered commendable. So I had to do something to make up for it as I continue to work harder for our project. As we worked towards the new proposal and games that are being suggested, each of the programmers are assigned two games to work on.

I was assigned "Jewels of the Sea" and "Jazz on the Beach". And begin working on it. I work alongside Kenny, one of our team's designer who came up with the games that I am working on. He came up with the assets and transfered them to me. This is how the game will look like.

This is how the complete game will look like after it is done. So with my new roles, I start my work. I spent most of the day understanding what is to be done and what is necessary, such as what the designers want and how the game is to work. The rest of the day was spent on thinking of the algorithms and messing around with llMessageLinked and link_message. The whole week was pretty fun, actually. We went around Second Life and exploring the wasteland that my friend Tozh send me (You can send Landmarks to your friend so they can visit that specific place, it so happens that she gave me a landmark for a wasteland and it was exciting).

Models in SecondLife

The vending machines in Orange Playground serves as a stall for visitors to purchase items.

A place for visitors to rest and chat.

This is one of the game in Eva Zone. The "smoke" at the right serves as a feedback for the player if he click on the target at the correct time. Most of the models and animations are done but the game is not finished yet.

This is Jewels on the Sea, one of the games in Eva Zone.

This is the Shark for the "Jewels on the Sea" Game. It is a mobile obstacle in the game.

Previously, the animation for the transport vehicle had some problems. The animations are working fine now.

Concept Sketches

This is the platform for the transport vehicles to land. The are a total of 4 of this platform in Eva Zone. The Vending machines will also be located in this area.

This is the Main Area where the visitors will start at. Visitors can click on one of the holographic panels to travel to other islands using the transport vehicles provided.

This is the H2O Zone. This zone is located in the sea.

This is Eva Zone. This zone is floating in the air.

This is Green Zone. This zone is also floating in the air and is located between the Eva Zone and the main area.

This is supposed to be the overall view of Orange Playground. It is incomplete and it will never be completed. I submitted it anyways.

In the first 2 pics, the targets can only be hit by the opposing teams, E.G red can hit blue and vice versa. The target in the third pic can be hit by both teams. Once a static target is hit points are awarded and it will disappear. It respawns after 2 minutes.

This is the registration room, the doors are automatic.

The vehicles can now respawn. They will be brought back to the starting area when the player has zero health left, or he stands up halfway during the match.

I redid the towers because there was a problem. Previously, if i hit the up button, i will move up and land on the upper platform, however, if someone was near me, they would also be moved up. The reason is because i used a llWhisper function, which everyone could hear if they were near. Hence, I have since changed the script to detect the bullets, and then detect where the bullets came from, and subsequently transporting the correct vehicle upwards.

I have also placed a script in every object that was not supposed to be seen when the final game is ready. By just shouting run or debug into channel 054071 (my admin number) the objects will appear non-visible and visible respectively.

This is what happens when /054071 run is shouted.

Last but not least, I have done the sounds for:

The WeeTube game has more or less been completed, with gameplay and textures. I might be tweaking a little bit if possible once I'm done with the other mini-game that I'm doing right now. This picture shows how the pipes look like when no one is playing. They face up and doesn't react when click upon to prevent players from cheating.

This is how it looks when the player starts the game and click on the 9 tubes. The tubes will now face down, and when clicked upon, rotates 90 degrees around it's 'up' axis. Now all the player needs to do is to connect the pipe properly from the start to the end in order to win.

Jet-Ski

Now what I'm working on is the Jet-Ski game. The Go-Kart has been scrapped due to it not being inside the proposal, but the Jet-Ski has the same concept as the Go-Kart; to touch all the checkpoints and become the fastest to reach the finishing line.

The image above shows a box, which when clicked upon, rez out the mini-game's vehicle. The vehicle is just an illustration purpose and may change when the game is fully done. This vehicle will self-cleanup if no one sits on it so that it doesn't affect the sim if someone spams the rezzing process.

The checkpoints which the player needs to touch. Of course at the end there won't be any wooden plank to touch. The player will have to touch the checkpoints in order to record their own time. If they miss a checkpoint, they will have to go back and reach the checkpoint before continuing.

WyeHuong here, this is what I have done this week:

For this week, I did the towers where players can go up to higher ground by shooting a button in front of them.

The vehicles can now go up and down in different positions, this is to enable players to peer over walls and shoot their opponents.

The cannon problem is fixed and now it tracks your camera and rotates accordingly, this adds realism to the shooting.

The close combat room has been planted with smoke bombs. To activate them, player have to shoot on buttons on the walls. However, there will be a 2 minute delay each time it is activated.

Ten vehicles are out and there are 5 per team, the red and blue boxes are collision checkers where they will 'open' or 'close' the tracks.

Through experimenting and going around Second Life looking through some of the games and invention available, I made new friends and learnt new stuff. I continued making slow progresses bit by bit, adding in what I have learnt. Eventually, I evolved the prototype to the complete game. Below is a picture of the complete game.

This game consist of many cylinder, I adjusted the size and place them in the correct position to create a target board. This target board works as a complete game I made. This was one of the first few games that were being suggested for Orange Island. I decided to go on creating it despite the fact that the proposal has yet to be approved by our client. This does not hinder the progress with the project either because it helps to show that what the designers have proposed can be made possible. I'm very happy with my progress. Yay!

For the last week, I have been scripting the animation for the newer Guard sculpted prim and a new game that is being proposed named 'WeeTube'. The newer Guard has been shown by Larry. Looks much better than the previous.

WeeTube

WeeTube is a game where you have to flip the boxes(refer to the above picture) until you can link the boxes together. Doesn't make sense right? These boxes are actually the replacement for pipes, which the DMD guys will create for us, so it's actually the linkage of the pipes to complete this game.

The learning curve of this week is relatively gentle, making it easy to play, but this requires certain level of brainpower where you need to assert to what extent do you need to turn the pipes so that it can properly form. This is also timed, so if you are too slow, the game will reset itself.

There will be a start position and end position which is indicated to the player on the screen. Currently there's a 3x3 version, and we are still contemplating whether we want a bigger version(5x5).

Wyehuong here, I have done researching on vehicle functions and polishing up the MFA stuff like spelling errors, misplaced scripts and adding the door mat script.

I've also helped to make the recreation room. Some stuff inside requires to be scripted, like the cupboards and a chair that changes camera view when a player sits on it.

Next i will be working on the Vehicle and the cannon rotation, as well as the arena scripts (static targets, smoke bombs, elevator)

The end of the week is here and I have been researching more on the limitations of the SLS (Second Life Script). I have yet to script anything since I have been going to a couple of tutorial places to look and explore some of the scripts that is available. I was looking through some of the old games that were being suggested and decided to create a prototype for fun.

The picture above is a sample of a target hitting game. The cone that you see on the right is actually a switch to activate the game. The semi-sphere located on the left act as a debugger that will display the messages and the values that I give to the platform (the circle).

The purpose of this game is a small parachute game whereby the player will be launched upwards before you start falling down. You are supposed to land on the bullseye for the highest point. I will further update the progress of this mini-game.

Greetings, Yeang Chiong here. One of the programmers that is working on Orange Island - Second Life. During the first week, I spent 1 week volunteering for SGCC and was not around to experiment around with Second Life. Time passed and the second week came. I reported to the lab for and there were some tutorials we had to go through. This is a sample of a tutorial exercise. Changing our character's feature and looking for this location that allow us to sit upside down.

We also spent the second week attending lessons that is held in Second Life. Our supervisor, Ms Dio gave us a schedule with the classes that we should attend in order to know more about SL (Second Life). We attended programming classes, classes that teaches us how to reduce lag and our designers attended sculpturing classes.

On the third week, we went to visit our client's workplace in order to know more about what they wanted and what was available since our client does not wish to have the things they have to exist within SL. They decided to name their project the Orange Island.

Our proposal had to be re-edited, we are currently in the phase of discussing a new game and a new concept that will suit our client's needs.

Sinistral Cooljoke here. Well, that's not my real name; it's my avatar name in Second Life instead. My real name is Justin, and I'm from the Orange Team doing FYPJ right now. Like what Fadong mentioned, our proposal has been rejected several times, so there's no games that has been decided of yet.

So for the past few weeks, without any objective, I tried out scripting several unrelated things which might be used in the end.

The Doors

Here's the 2 different type of doors that I scripted out. Chances are you might not see them at the end of the project(since there aren't any places that requires door I guess). One is the sliding door at the top of the picture, while the above is the swinging door. The doors open when you left click them, or touches them. They open by, well, swinging and sliding. Hahaha.

Platform Boxing

Platform Boxing is 2 player game where you are supposed to 'box' your opponent out of his platform in order to score. As you can see, there's only one platform that I scripted out. Lol. This game is one of the game that was proposed, and thought to be accepted, until it is scrapped(there's some chances it might appear back in the final presentation).

There are 2 boxes, one that teleports you to the blue platform when you right click and press "Sit Here", while the other checks on the score and gives out the prize to the winner. So you may ask, "Why 'Sit Here'?". That's because of how SL works with linked prim. It was supposed to be "Teleport!" until I linked them together and it reverts to default.

This is how it looks when you teleport to the platform.

This is what pops out when the winner 'boxes' the opponent out of his platform. Since there's only one platform scripted, the winner is me when I drop off the platform. Lol. Of course once there's 2 platform scripted, I can change how it gives the reward to the winner.

Animation

This is the assignment given to us. We are supposed to animate this Gurkha for the other SL team. We found a way to 'animate' it by some nice guys in Second Life which had already provided a way to animate primitives. How this work is that it will store all primitives' position when you call it to store as 1 'frame'. Tweak the positions and store it again as the next 'frame'. Once everything is finalised, it will play each frame, making it look like an animation.

It does seems like we are lagging behind schedule, as the proposal has not been finalised. Hopefully it can be finalised so that we know what games are needed and what's not.

I am Seaside Seesaw from the Orange Team. My real name is Tan Fadong. For the past few weeks, my team and I have been trying to propose ideas for the Orange Playground. We went through a few concepts, but were rejected. Currently we are trying to think of a new concept for the Orange Playground.

During these few weeks, we have experimented with tools in Second Life to help us build Orange Playground. One of these tools is the Sculpted Prim (Sculptie). We have been playing around with it, and managed to find a way to use 3ds max to model, then export it as a sculpted texture.

Here is a dinosaur I have made using 8 sculpties and 3 prims. It's a Diplodocus.

It's big.

Definitely taller than most avatars.

You should be able to sit on it in the future.

It's me, WyeHuong Woller (my avatar name in SL). My real name is Wye Huong and I am from the 'Showcase Team' (not Orange Team). This is the first time I'm posting here so I'll be talking about everything I've done since the start of FYPJ, and I'll do my best to include some screenshots.

Basically I scripted drawers, fountains, doors, games, sitting poses, notecards ETC.. to be specific (but not too specific to divulge any info), it would be the interactive items on the island. The games were done already. There were 11 games in total but only 3 were placed in the island, however for the rest, they were done also (and yes they are still looking for a home).

This is one of the games inside, clicking on it will start the quiz.

The seats have scripts inside so there will be different poses that will generate randomly when they sit down. After sitting down, Avatars can change pose by pressing 'Shift+Right/Left'.

These doors are scripted to be automatic.

Fountain is made up of particles and the water is moving.

Another one of the games, it's a machine that decrypt messages. Players need to find the messages around the place, and 1 message will give clues about the location of the next clue.

Everything you click will give you detailed information in the form of a notecard, plus, a bigger, clearer version of the item in pictorial form.

May-August period ends, a new one starts

So, another batch of students finished a Final Year Project period with 2 Second Life products:

A customized viewer with: Maya-to-sculpted-prim importer, ability to save snapshots as .jpeg, custom key binding system and a few more (more info later)
Another ARG (alternate reality game): "For a good cause"

We also appeared on tv! Channel News Asia's "That's IT" featured a segment on SL and interviewed us (video link coming soon)

We have new projects for the next 12 weeks... updates will be coming :)

We've not been updating for quite some time.. but heres a summary of what we finished over the weeks.

I've finished the skin editor. Now you can replace UI images with images of your own!

Thus, Brian and I have more or less finished our assigned tasks, and are working on integration at the moment. If we do have some more extra time, we'll put in extra features.

Since beta testing start most of the briefings were conducted by me, as the gamemaster was busy with the database and stuff.

Through the beta test, one of the testers found quite few bugs with SL assets as well as with the database, which we tried to remedy as soon as possible.

manage to find a free php host that supports mysql and provide database. it is also a banner-free host. finally able to send data into the database after numerous setbacks. now what i left is to have a stronger validation method and retrieving of data from the database.

Quite a few events happened the past few days. We had some group photo taking and a channel news asia visit. Despite this cool events, we still managed to get out of the happy mood and worked out some assets. haha :)

House Escape Textures

1st floor
- The wooden textured box is where the players will enter the password given from the 1st part of the 2nd challenge. The book stand is where the players will get the 3rd part's password. The yellow and the purple box is where the players will enter the code and the key to access the secured room.

2nd floor
- The red box is where the players will enter the color codes shown on the screen at the top of the bed opposite of the seat. A key will be given to them if they enter correctly.

- The pink board and the other planks can be moved by touching the books on the shelf. Players must make the planks formed a plane and it will show the code.

Well that wraps up the main plot of the house escape. Hopefully the testers find it hard :p

Just updating here... As wenlong have mentioned, story and gameplay finalised, GDD more or less, just abit of cleaning up here and there.. I came up with the overall layout of the island and build the nessesary structures to place those puzzle buildings. Basically, all puzzle buildings will be on air, challenge arenas and the gathering hall will be on the ground.
Gathering Hallwith teleporter that doubles as a platform for the gamemaster to stand during meetings and levitates revealing the teleporter that allows players to access the puzzle buildings when there is no meeting.

Due to the limited land we have, i've modified the initial layout to something like below.

Tower of Hanoi Buildingas well as the mini tower of hanois in the building for the 1st level.if time permits, each level's mini-tower will be different, a cylindrical elevator to travel up.

- This house is used for the 2nd challenge. The players have to figure out how they are going to get the URL address from this challenge without getting kicked out of the house. Heber will be doing the scripts, Lynette did most of the furniture and I design the gameplay of this challenge and created some furniture as well.

1st part of 1st challenge - Puzzle circuit
- This puzzle circuit will be used in the 1st challenge. The players will arrange the puzzle circuits to form a continuous flow of the wires and having the specific 4 corner pieces in place.

A little late, but I'll post here anyway.

First of all, I did not realise that there was already an undo and redo function for editing. Thus, implementing the buttons is too easy a task.

Next, Winamp's SDK is only suited for winamp plugins, and the only way to control winamp from other applications is to get the window's handle and send commands to it. This means that winamp MUST be installed and running. I wrote a simple console program on that.

I realised I didn't post shots of what I presented during the presentation as in builds in SL.
Did all this before the presentation but due to the 'restart' we faced.. I stopped building and we went back to preproduction stage.
Currently we have a new game idea and the main content of the games design document is completed.

Our beta test period has been schedule to start on the 30th of July and last till 9th of August.

Anyway, enough of the talk and on to the shots. Hopefully.. these assets can still be integrated..

Completed implementing the feature of saving a screenshot taken in second life to another format (.jpg) instead of .bmp.

Almost done with the "Send To" feature, can send items to another player by using the interface i created by the "Send To" button is clicked, just some bugs here and there to solve.

Came up with a new gameplay on Tuesday.
Got it approved by two of the DMD supervisors.
However the story was not good enough and we had quite a bit of restructuring and new storylines for our game and thus I edited the detailed game sequence today.

Yesterday I completed the showroom for the master bedroom as well as some random furniture, this morning I did part of the studyroom before group meeting that is.

Forgot to post this picture last week.
This is the information booth concept in Second Life. It will rotate after the script is put into it so that it won't look static. It also has a touch for more information ability in it.

These are some of the concepts for the press room. There have been a few changes made since last week. I have did some research and it has shown a few designs that could match with the whole theme. Below are the structures I have done in Second Life.

The red colored object is an alarm that acts like a question queue. It gives more like a press conference feel. This is a more orderly manner in ARG platforms.
I will be touching on the Boss's blog this week.

Started working on a keybinding system.
A panel has been added to the preferences menu. This will be where you set your keybindings.
There are 3 columns, the first one being the action that will be keybinded to, the second is the keybind, and the third is the key modifier(holding on CTRL, ALT keys).

Hopefully, this will improve on how customizable users will want their second life program to be.

Added a menu item "Import Models" that will allow the user to select a file to import. Right now, the function can only read text files and output the content to a notecard.

I've put in the shortcut to select objects with a rectangle without having to go to the edit panel. Selecting objects this way causes the edit panel and the translation tool to appear as well.

Less than 10 lines of code is all thats needed really, don't know why it took me so long to get to that.

Our scripting tutorial featured attaching a script to an object, and making it say something when it was touched.
Well, in short, the tutorial was interesting but understandably rather frustrating to those who have not touched programming before. The style of scripting reminded me of Flash Actionscript.

Comments on SL:
Damien: the pros of SL is that the virtual world is built and ran by the players itself rather then programmers and designers deciding it. all the programmers and designers need to do is to provide the necessary tools for the users to have a hands-on in building the shapes in the virtual world. i would say that this is quite intriguing.

but the cons of this game is that you may have to have a powerful computer and high boardband width to truly join the game. not only that, contents built and created by users arent really controlled and censored. hence, once in awhile we might stumbled onto a island that is more of a adult content.

Our first Tutorial - Building a stick for our character to hold

Basically, its easy 3d modelling in Second Life.
First, we were instructed on how to create our own 'torch'. Using the materials we were given, along with some instructions, here's the outcome:
The whole concept of the tutorial was this: Create a few objects, attach any scripts you want to them, and link them together. Then, drag it into your inventory and wear it.

Very good basic tutorial for in-game modelling. We'll be taking a closer look at the script that emits the particles.

Eugene -The game gets pretty laggy sometimes.
The game allows humans to interact with each other fully in the game world.

Brian:
The lagness in school cause the whole game to be not as fun as it should be i guess. Wasted alot of time because of that as well. Interesting game as to how you can build tools in it and customise appearances and stuffs.

LiangDeng:
Yes lag is frustrating, but on the bright side there is many different types of creative activities that can be made/found. Another problem is that lack of objectives in Second Life, which drives the more hardcore gamers like me away. The user interface needs a revamp.

It's over! ...and a new one starts right away

The March-May project period has ended:

A private island for a Singapore government was built, including 3 conference rooms and a beach cafe :)
The SL island team also created a machinima which we plan to submit to Machinimasia this year
Second Pets, an alternate reality game was created and beta-tested for 3 weeks with a group of NYP students. Results and pictures of the prize ceremony coming soon!
And we were interviewed for a 7-page feature on SL by Singapore's The Strait Times newspaper.

Today, a new 12-week period starts with 2 projects:

SL Open Source: we'll be working on customizing the look and 3D interaction of the SL client.
SL ARG: a second alternate reality game, using the learnings from Second Pets.

Hammy's Vacation - The Summary of a beginning

It's been awhile since we've updated anything new about our current project. The content of the script shan't be revealed, although it's already approved. Basically, we have began the production of this short film, by doing rough-ups based on our storyboards and deciding which camera angle is better for which particular scene.
The theme for the main shoot locations is demonic, because our inspiration for this film is... Grim Reaper! Ok, it's the SL-i version of Hell, so it's pretty PG, no worries about it passing the censory boards... =D

Pet wings, Resized pets and Help with runway! Help!

Haha, I'm the first after the 100th post! Well, anyway, I tried the 2 variations of wings for the pets as suggested by Ms Lina. However, the "gradient" wing looked very weird and I accidentally closed the canvas without saving it. So, I only got this one below. This looks nice but I'm kind of worried that it may look like the wings of a character in an anime called Cardcaptor Sakura. I'm not sure though.

Also, I've resized the pets because we want some of the pets' merchandises to be available for all pets. So, if we have the pets of the same size, it'll be easier for the merchandises to fit all the pets. The rabbit however, is not affected by this resizing.

By the way, I was working on the fashion runway texture but I'm stuck. Google searches showed that most of the runways are rather plain and they usually stick to like 2 or 3 colours, usually neutral colours such as white black and grey. However, Jason says it looks plain. Hmm, I'm not sure what I can do, I had planned to put up pics of pets wearing the merchandises but they look distracting to me so I didn't continue with it. Please give me some suggestions? =p

End of Project: sl-island

The 3 of us went to the rock @ Suntec for rehersals and the actual event (yesterday). Kinda glad everything's over, but I guess I'll miss the island (or rather, the stuff I left behind). What we did the past few days were basically touch ups on the island, video-ing our progresses and helping our clients set up the videos and SL-conference. Poor Gab.... rofl...
Anyway, now I'll be taking a video of the island on behalf of my teammates, and also work on a special surprise project. Shhhh!!! I really don't know what documents we must submit... Omigosh!

just an update: the group has decided to remove the hospital due to a possible loophole in the plot.

This week was spent re-structuring the data-management system online into classes and a new method of handling the MySQL tables that store the data.

It is now much easier for the designers to add in ANY pet attribute to the game at any point in time, as the tables are now generated dynamically as more are added, unlike previously, where the attributes were hard coded in.

Also, the web interface is on it's way with the restructuring as it will allow the administration panel to be created much more easily (the main cause of the re-structuring).

Red Carpets Rolling Soon ...

Indeed it is, but til then - here are the updates for me as my team and I wrap up the designs and functionalities. With all the major parts more or less working and done, we've not wasted away the rest of our time for the FYP ... we've made enhancements and additions to spruce up the look a bit. Like what Nanami mentioned in the previous post, Mr Soren visited us and advised us on some design issues; but being rather late into the project already, we could only make minor changes to improve the situation without having to revamp an entire chunk of objects. As usual, I'll explain each picture as I move along.

The waiting room with our metallic friends, combining my modelled robots and Ha0's wandering script .. we have robots patrolling and talking about our client. There's Rollerbot (it has wheels for feet), Sweeperbot (it has flaps that drape downwards and moves in a sweeping motion as it moves around; it has exhaust columns on it as well), Spiderbot (in true geek-dom, I just couldn't avoid adding a robot that was quad-pedal and house a rather sinister look [oops]) and finally there's Swingybot (it's the only stationary robot there but very noticeable due to its flexible arms that swing around).

The updated look of the SIDM/NYP room; I've kept the look of clean lines and something of a different style (notice the elaborate designs of the other rooms) I've added frames for the students' works to be displayed as well. Also, there are down and underlights for greater atmosphere.

Two frames in this room house an SIDM poster which I quickly did with Photoshop for a quick overview of what SIDM is all about. By the way, the logos have links to its respective sites too.

It's been quite overdue but I eventually got down to it. That's right. The cliff now looks more natural. Now, Kazaf won't have to complain the waves crashing into our island are ... err ... (is it appropriate to say this publicly?) gay?

I've also glammed up our reception with overhead fountains (something unique) and path lights that spread out visually. Looks really good IMO ;)

As we draw closer to the big day, we're doing all we can to make this something our client and ourselves proud of, and truly call our own.

Finishing touches

Our project is coming to an end very soon. Gonna miss all my stuff on the island... Since most of the crucial parts of the projects are done up, I went to touch up some parts of the island, cleared most of my mess, etc. So yea, I've done pretty random stuff since last Wednesday.

Hey, I just gave them a pay rise, and off they went to change their hairdos. Geesh... Also changed their uniform to something more in-tune with this jungle theme: florals! haha ok, so I received a box of really cool textures and cant wait to try them out. But so what? They all look better now.

Seven Seas Cafe

Added a logo, some decorations and a 'net surfing' corner. I also had laptops with 'screensavers' showing our clients webpage, our blog and random pictures the 3 of us took during our time in SL. This laptop is more personal I guess. I'm seeking suggestions if I should remove our client's webpage from this area.

New Conference room 1

Mr Soren came and advised us the other day. He said something about a standardised style for the island. So here's me trying to add realism to a futuristic place, just as I tried to add realism to all the other rooms. Er ok, most of it are stil semi-real, cos, walking on clouds? Sitting next to a waterfall? Haha. It can only happen on this island! Yea! So yea, I added a super huge aquarium around the room, with fishes and stuff. The problem is, I couldn't find any fish big enuff to fill it, So it' imcomplete, for now. Hope this won't make this place boring anymore.

I'm going around asking follow SIDM-mates who did games for SP3 to donate their posters in-game screenshots etc to this project. I'm displaying it at the NYP-SIDM room. Right now, you're seeing Lights of Lorica and Tivi: The Lost Channels by 2 groups of DET-DMD team. Please email me your stuff by this Sunday ok? Preparing to work OT for this. >D
