This first week will be for training and getting everybody comfortable inside Second Life. All teams will complete Exercise 0 which is pretty much the same we had for the Digital Entertainment and Society class last semester.

Second Life has a lot of potential to be a suitable entertainment platform. Despite the rather steep requirements for a massively multiplayer online 'game' like this (High-speed broadband of perhaps 1.5Mbps or higher), it has pretty good graphics and an amazing scripting engine which allows limitless possibilities within the world. Second Life already has a massive amount of activities which allows you to take casual tours to playing games or perhaps even visiting real world companies. Despite all this potential Second Life can offer, it has it's downsides like malicious and sexual content which may turn away conservative players. Also, the lag presented can be quite a hindrance especially so in populated areas. However, if carefully planned and having taken full advantage of all this potential, Second Life can be a very good entertainment platform.
