Rena :: Week 4 :: Progress Post 2
Hmm I've been working on the design sketches since the presentation on Wednesday. Two of these pet designs are "revamps" of the previous sketches I had posted. Like Jason, I based my pet designs around existing animals. I try to represent which animal in a cuter way and add wings so that they can fly with their "flying" owners.
Well, as for the designs for the pet shop and hospital interior, it's really draft, because I still have no specific idea on how I want them to look like. I did take a look on references. Erms, I want the pet shop to look inviting and cute. As for the hospital, hopefully can make the rooms different, make the mood of each room to reflect the personality of the patients. Erm, well, it seems we're still not quite decided on how each of the personalities will be.

Character
I kinda like the pig, sheep, panda and rabbit idea. Having wings supports the floating or flying mechanism that is diplayed while you are moving about in Second Life.
But in visual sense, the first panda of the panda series is well developed, the rest still need to be developed.
Food
I have no problems with the food and the merchandise, though it would be good if they also reflect more about the personality of the character. Mechandise such as patriotic, fantasy, dark, rocker, sci fi, trend...etc
Even for food, it can be Swirly Bamboo to represent Swirly fries, 3 in 1 Bamboo Stick in Mustard Dip, Muddy Grass Pie, Grass Salad, Carrot Ice Cream, etc....a combination that you have not heard before.
Try to relate it to something in real life....example
Carrot ( Rabbit's favourite ) - Ice Cream ( Exsist in real life ) = carrot ice cream
Visually ( The body of the carrot acts as the cone and the real-life ice cream on top of it )
Room
It is good that you are implementing the mood of the room to reflect the personality.
Just a suggestion....Apart from reflecting the personality but also the habitat of the Pet.
Let say....the hospital bed for a sheep can be made of Hay....a panda, made of bamboo etc....
Jason Deisgn Sketches
Character
The first character sketch of the Cute Head and Tail might not be a good idea as it resticts the movement of the character, a little creep though.
I like the second and third character sketch as they show character, cute except for the bird ( something about the mouth? ). I think the Pets should be crazy, not serious but wild in a virtual world. Did you reference it from any character? Hope you can implement the ideas of adding in originality in the food, merchandise and world.
Mr Zefeng:
As mentioned just now, I kinda like jason's cute head. But same thought as ms Lina. kinda creepy isn't it? To have just a head and tail. Add a body.
